RAY MIZZI - THE BIO |
MIZZI:
Hi, I am Ray Mizzi, please allow me to introduce myself.
I live in Toukley and grew up on the coast, so I have a close affinity with this area and how much it has changed over my life time.
My wife, Gabrielle and daughter, Mia (3) and I returned from Alice Springs to settle in 2006, and I have a big family all around the coast with others in Sydney and Newcastle.
My aim is to play regularly, to compose and perform at functions or events with a mind for parties and weddings, and to be resident at a local venue.
I also perform for the senior citizens, such as at Toukley Seniors club on Tuesdays from 0930-1030, may I say, this is quite special.
My Piano/ Music Style;
Some have defined me as a musically flexible and vibrant pianist and singer who plays originals or covers in all styles, solo, duo or with full band.
An example I may play and sing Jerry Lee, “Great Balls of Fire”, then a classical version of Memories or the Moonlight Sonata, a boss nova; “the Girl from Ipanema”, followed by Breakdown by Jack Johnson, “Tears in heaven” by Clapton, and a new piece by Ben Kweller or Santana’s “Smooth”.
So it’s something for everyone no matter what the taste.
As such I have been pleased in being able to create swooning or lively ambience suitable for dining or dance, or walking down the isle.
Of course, if the audience is dance oriented then I will play for that.
I love a challenge, recently an Irish lady asked for “Danny boy” and strait after, Blister in the Sun” by the Violent Femms only to be followed with Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” (a rhapsody).
My Voice;
Voice swings from Jeff Buckley and Sting to Jack Johnson and Billy Joel or Elton John and Bob Marley.
I am also able to sing in languages like French and Italian and German with a repertoire of Lieder and opera on request, ideal for weddings or special events.

Stage;
I have had lead roles in opera and musicals since I was in primary school and went on to roles in Carmen and have given opera recitals of tenor work.
Now I concentrate on my solo and composition career.
I presently move from Baritone to Tenor constantly, and have been encouraged for being able to offer renditions of Jazz, (Tenderly, But Not for Me, Moon River) along side greats by Crowded House, Sting and Marley.

Original Compositions;
Composing for your special event is a guarantee of making it memorable as the music will leave lasting impressions.
I have performed and written for orchestra and brass and am happy to compose for any medium including motet and choir, this is surprisingly affordable.
I am able to be commissioned solo instrument, orchestra and Fusion, Band and popular song having composed mostly on piano.
I wrote our wedding music for organ and you can select or review all my original compositions from the website.
I am presently unearthed by triple J and have performed and received air play nationally and abroad.
Covers;
Anything from the classics to rock/pop and Jazz. My acoustic and unplugged sets include all the greats from Jack Johnson to Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and Billy Joel.
While the dance outfit focus on danceable catchy beats and specially selected grooves from popular artist such as Jamiroquai, Red Hot Chilly Peppers, KC and the Sunshine band, Bob Marley and Carlos Santana. |
