Cotton, Keays and Morris - The Entrance Leagues Club - 24.09.2004
For those of us who remember the 60's, or don't but were there and relish the memories we're sure we have...
For those who refuse to go to their kids room and turn down the music they listen to because you recall your parents doing that same thing to you……….
For those who yearn that hopeless dream of reliving a youth so crammed with exceptional music, vibe, good times and great times……..
For those of you, fortunate enough to have been there…
the night that was… Cotton Keays and Morris.
We have had the old Aussie icon shows and they have been brilliant in their own rights… this night, on stage, surpasses them all!
Not even at the huge music festivals did we ever get the chance in the one show to listen to Masters Apprentices, Zoot, Mississippi, Russell Morris, Darryl Cotton and the legendary Jim Keays… It was a night of nights.
This folks was a reward for being who we are now. Why we had to grow up and hold the dream. The dream that was Australian Music. It is still Australian Music... but we were the lucky ones who happened to have had the juiciest and most appetizing slices of what now is becoming a rock hard arena.
The banter, the boys, the band, the bright lights and the brilliance.
Exceptionally supported by The Band….
Harry Brus , phenomenal bass player who has shared the stage with the likes of Jeff St John, Blackfeather, Kevin Borich, Matt Taylor's, Chain and the Foreday riders to name but a few…
the excellent keyboard talents of Chris Alford ,
some amazing guitar work from Sam Hawksley
and no where near least, the drumming, performed with such energetic animation from Mick Skelton.
The fervour of the night capped with a meet and greet from the guys, signing CD's, posters clothing… anything that was write able…. (One enthusiastic punter even producing a version of a recording that one of the guys didn't even have a copy of!!) and quite willing to be part of photographic shoots all over the place. They were accessible to us all and it was absolutely fabulous!
We were waiting for the big one , got the Real thing , we weren't living in a childs dream and we all will turn up your radio when we hear them still!! |
