todayscountry94one Brand New Star logo imageWhats On Logo button image BRAND NEW STAR:
todayscountry94one would like to help a budding young country music performer take the first step to becoming a star.

The Central Coast’s only all country music radio station is offering a cash prize of $3,000 as first prize in this competition.

After two very competitive heats at Club Wyong and Toukley RSL, the Booth’s Motor Group Brand New Star 2013 final was a fantastic display of up-and-coming talent.

The 10 finalists came from as far afield as Benalla, Victoria and Young, NSW, as well as Sydney, The Hunter Valley and the Central Coast.

Judging in both heats had been extremely difficult and proved to be the same in the final, with great performances on the night at Central Coast Leagues Club. Finalists were able to perform with a fabulous backing band and this added to the overall quality of musical performances.

There was a very large crowd at the final and the feedback from the audience was that the night had been memorable and very entertaining. This competition is quickly gaining a reputation as an important event on the national country music calendar.

Winner was 20 year old Mitchell Murdoch from North Balgowlah. Mitchell has been performing in talent contests and eisteddfods for a few years and this win should help him get to the next level in Australian country music. His prize will include a recording session with Rod McCormack at Music Cellar Studios and his song will be released and distributed to radio stations around the country with CRS.

Runner-up was 15 year old Kiara Taylor (pictured) from the Hunter Valley town of Elderslie. Kiara won the Maureen Wagner Memorial Award, which has recently found a home withtodayscountry94one and Brand new Star. We wish Kiara every success.

Thanks to all of our sponsors for this year’s competition – Booth’s Motor Group, Club Wyong, Toukley RSL, Central Coast Leagues Club, CRS singles distribution, Rod McCormack Productions and Gina Jeffreys Entertainment Academy. I can’t wait to see what the 2014 Brand New Star will uncover

For further information on this exciting country music talent quest please go to the todayscountry94one website at or phone (02) 4323 2441
