ANTHONY SNAPE - THE REVIEW |
ANTHONY SNAPE; The Dekk Bar
June 29 2007:
After having almost caught up with all that needed "caughting up" with the site I figured it was time to hit the venues again and see what I have been missing.
On the top of that agenda was to finally catch up with Anthony Snape.
The lil WOCC Rock chick mentioned him a while ago and suggested he was a must see - she was SO right!
Anthony was on stage as a part of the LIVE AND ORIGINAL HOME BRED SERIES organised by local singer/songwriter, promoter and passionate music fan, Ben Roberts.
It was such a pleasure to hear Anthony's music live and up close and personal as they say - (yes I DID previously buy the CD from a local outlet such was the recommendation). He reaches right into your feelings vault and pulls out the all the ones you have and puts them to music.
I cannot understand how the likes of some performers on the major stations receive airplay when talent like this does not - right place, right time syndrome perhaps but Anthony could easily be likened to John Farnham, Matchbox 20... the list of similarities is extensive and would all be number one, top rate performers!
Looking, selfishly, on the bright side of this is that if Anthony did receive the attention he was due there would be no chance for me to catch a gig like this ever again.
I would be missing out on hearing songs from his DISAPPEARING DAY CD such as "Little Piece of Love" or "Frequency" or "Can't Stop The Rain" from the new EP.
Anthony's songs are well structured and brilliantly performed with enthusiasm and emotion where due. His stage presence is most cordial, connective and professional while being totally entertaining.
You look forward to the next song and are disappointed to hear that "the next song is my last for tonight". Well, I wasn't alone there as Anthony graciously afforded us all an encore from a most enthusiastic, en masse request.
I parrot on about this quite often, but you really ought to catch the next performance of this outstanding performer before his luck changes and we have to wait for the return home tour in a crowded venue looking at a screen from miles away! |

ANTHONY SNAPE - THE BIOGRAPHY |
ANTHONY SNAPE:
A LITTLE PIECE OF LOVE is all that it takes. When you've got it, shout about it or better still put it on the radio!
Anthony Snape has been traveling round oz over the last few months taking his music to Australian radio. With little to no expectation of what sort of reception he might get this talented young man armed only with his acoustic guitar and voice has scored himself national radio air play from his debut single. “Its been a great ride so far, I'm really excited about being on radio for the first time, its an awesome feeling. There's so much that I want to do, I'm giving it my best shot.” - Anthony Snape
What a shot its been, in the first week of release “Little Piece of Love” was added to networks across Australia and is being played on stations like NOVA, Triple M, Triple J and various regional networks. Not bad for a aussie kid from the bush.
Add this to the fact that Anthony scored a national distribution deal with MGM and you've really got something to shout about. Anthony's debut album “Disappearing Day” and breakthrough single “Little Piece of Love” is in stores now and can be downloaded from ITUNES. That means that you can get your copy from Sanity HMV, JB Hi-Fi and all your favourite stores.
Do your bit to support independent Australian music, go out and buy it now! For more information visit Anthony's Web site |
