REVIEW - DAVID RUSSELL STUNT RIDING

DAVID RUSSELL:
David Russell is an entertainer on a scale that I have not had the occasion to meet, let alone review, in my time in the music industry. While he is a musician, a drummer in fact, the event under the Whats On Scope today was not a musical gig but a breathtaking motor cycle stunt show.

We were afforded the most generous offer of being in the centre ring with this amazing, down to earth, aptly named 'Wizard of Aus', world record holding, internationally acclaimed, man of 'firsts' premier, stunt riding legend.

David Russell's stunts have included
* The first ever jump over a helicopter with 'live rotors'
* Hurtling his bike and himself, mid air, through a spectacularly lit wall of flame.
* The Ladder Ride - Riding his bike perched atop a ladder
* Hurdling horses (think about that - NOT a guaranteed static object to jump)
* Jumping parked cars or busses
* No handed rides and jumps
* One handed wheel stands
And the list goes on.

While I was horrified to hear that the rotors on the chopper would be in full spin it was an amazing thing to watch. Unbelievably heart stopping stuff! I can understand why David was the first in the world to accomplish this feat.

This quiet, unassuming man blessed with a penchant for the thrilling and thinking up this idea while recovering in hospital after a practice injury just fit in with the apparent sense of if it can be done it can also be done better. He has been quoted as saying "You could say I've got very big adrenaline glands."

David Russell’s shows can be held on wet or dry, grass or dirt, football field or motor bike track day or night environments. The track today had a few ruts and bumps which didn't deter David’s major thrill - entertaining his audience.
While this was a daylight show and the flames and fireworks were spectacular I can only envisage the magnificence of a night time one.

If you get the chance to catch a David Russell Stunt Riding Show do it, you'll not be disappointed.

Oh and the mystery girl The Flack was curious about on the back of the bike at the beginning of David's show was not your's truly but my lil girl CJ - The lil WOCC Rock Chick.
She had a fantastic time and now has a memory that will keep that flashing smile smiling and the sparkle in the eyes for many years to come.
