Duplexity is a duo of live-music professionals catering to a wide range of venues and occasions; from pubs and clubs, to corporate events, fund-raisers and weddings. With over 20 years experience in live performance Duplexity has the flexibility to be able to perform in any environment and to cater to a variety of musical preferences.

Duplexity has accumulated quality equipment, a large and popular song repertoire, and the ability to draw and entertain a crowd.

Duplexity plays a variety of hit pop/rock songs from the ‘70s through to today’s current popular artists and, due to a high level of musical training paired with custom-designed backing tracks, is able to cover many styles that traditional bands and other smaller outfits are not. Vocal harmonies, with both male and female lead vocals, combined with inspirational instrumental abilities make Duplexity a top pick amongst venues both large and small.

Duplexity has perfected the art of mixing live instruments and vocals with professional backing tracks resulting in a full and energetic sound, easily dynamically adjusted with a single volume control. Duplexity is a mixed gender act appealing to both male and female audiences.

If you want your occasion to be fun and memorable, look no further than Duplexity!

Duplexity is:
Brett Beatty (Vocals and Guitar): Brett has been performing professionally since 1989. After attaining his Diploma in Contemporary Music, Brett was awarded a Scholarship to the Australian International Conservatorium of Music. Brett has passed on his skills having tutored guitar and musicianship to students of all ages for over ten years.

Brett has experience performing as a solo act, and has also played with numerous duos, trios and bands including “Troy Cassar-Daley”, “Manx Katz Trio” and “Lost Souls,” as well as perforning at the 2001 Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama in Bathurst NSW with “Jake and the Fat Men.”
Brett’s playing, put simply, makes you want to play “air guitar,” motivating even the most staunch non-dancer to get up and have fun! Brett is currently working towards a Bachelor of Audio Engineering at the SAE University in Sydney.

Karen Barrett (Vocals and Keyboard):
Karen started playing piano by ear at a young age and went on to study music formally, attaining 8th Grade AMEB Pianoforte whilst still a teenager. She has performed publically since childhood; - as a solo pianist, as well as playing keys, clarinet and saxophone in various ensembles in high school, including a jazz/rock band that performed at a number of public engagements. Her natural talent with harmonies also made her a valuable member of a number of choirs.

In adulthood Karen attained certification as an Audio Engineer and worked for several years doing production (sound and lighting) for caberet acts. She has also pursued both classical (opera) and contemporary vocal training, and has sung in the annual Christmas performance of Handel’s Messiah a number of times in the Sydney Opera House. In more recent years Karen has been gigging, as lead vocalist and/or keyboard player, with a number of bands including “Rock Stock and Barrel”, “Prime Numbers” and “The Jury”, and has a style and stage presence not to be missed!
