FLETCHER PILON:
Fletcher Pilon, often known as Fletch, is a very talented young singer/songwriter/guitarist and performer from the Central Coast.
Born in 2001, he is already making a name for himself as a potential future star in the entertainment industry.
He has an extremely bright personality and a unique gift when it comes to writing creative, thoughtful songs. His inspiring messages and catchy tunes resonate with all walks of life. Fletcher’s first few songs, which include “Invisible Barrier”, “One Life”, “Forever” & “Success Train” all have underlying themes such as overcoming fears & hard challenges, living your life to the fullest, losing someone you love & believing in yourself. Quite remarkable for someone so young.
His latest song is a beautiful dedication to his mother and is called “Mum.” Fletch is currently working towards recording his first EP.
Fletch has been extremely fortunate to have had the very nurturing, country music star, Gina Jeffreys as his mentor for the past 3 years whilst attending her weekly Singing, Performance & Stagecraft Workshops.
In 2012 he won Gina’s “Most Improved Award” for his class at the end of the year. Gina recently had this to say about Fletch. “The very bottom line is that Fletcher is one of the nicest kids I have ever met. He is hard working, highly motivated & I think has a wonderful future ahead of him.”
Fletch has had some fantastic experiences from attending Gina’s workshops. He has performed in and hosted her end of year concerts at the Hub Erina, appeared in her showcase at Lizotte’s Central Coast at age 9, sang on stage at the Mingara Carols in front of 18,000 people in 2011 & again in 2012. He was interviewed by Scott Levi & performed his original song “Forever” live on the ABC Central Coast radio in December, 2012. Fletch has also made supportive friendships for life with other young local talents in this environment. Along with his classes with Gina, Fletch has attended hip hop & drama lessons with Marni’s School of Performing Arts & appeared on stage at Laycock Theatre at her concerts.
Receiving his first guitar at age 10, Fletch learnt some basic chords from his father Mic Pilon, who got him off to a great start. By the end of 2012 after Fletch had written and composed a number of songs, it was time to take his guitar skills to the next level and began lessons with Scott Bird at Erina which he loves.
Fletch is a very enthusiastic, caring and fun loving character who is highly motivated in everything he does. He is a School Leader who has represented his school in many sports, academics and has been a major contributor as a performer in musical, drama, dance & public speaking features at his school including:-
- Starred as Michael Jackson in a tribute concert.
- Performed with Gina Jeffreys singing an original solo at Quattro Restaurant for a school fundraiser.
- Won his school talent quest for his Stage.
- Performed a solo at his school’s end of year Friendship and Learning Awards.
- Danced in the school’s Wakakirri production receiving a Highly Commended in Sydney.
- Is part of his school choir & performed in the Choral Festival.
- Had a major role in his school drama production at their end of year Presentation day.
- Has represented his school in public speaking every year since Kindergarten.
- Is the lead singer in the school’s 2013 musical “Wamberal Music Channel”
Fletch has enjoyed appearing in a number of Talent Quests on the Coast. In September 2012, Nic Kelly, host of the Sea FM Discovered Comp, asked Fletch to appear live on his Coast FM radio show “Project U” after hearing him sing in the competition. Fletch was their youngest ever guest at age 11 and did a great job being interviewed and performing two of his originals “Invisible Barrier” & “One Life”.
Whilst Fletch loves performing on stage, he also really enjoys busking. Recently he has been selected to busk at a number of very special events & festivals in Maitland, Ettalong, Avoca Beachside Markets, the Central Coast Christmas Fair, Mingara, Wyong Races on Australia Day & the Summer In The City Events held in Kibble Park with MMAD (Musician’s Making A Difference). Fletch has managed to further his career by putting his funds towards a busking amp, a new guitar and pay for some extra vocal coaching. He also donates a certain percentage of his busking funds to worthy charities.
Fletch is always very grateful for the opportunities that come his way.
In April 2013 he performed a 30minute set of originals and covers live on stage at Lizotte’s. It was the first night for the “Byrne Academy of Music presents Emerging Young Artists.” This is set to become a fortnightly celebration of talent the Central Coast youth has to offer.
In May 2013, Fletch appeared on the main stage at the Gosford Growers markets and also unexpectedly at Quattro Restaurant at the Bill Chambers Singer Songwriter night. Fletch was thrilled to meet Bill and be a part of this special night playing on stage alongside some amazing musicians.
A major highlight for Fletch this year was being featured in Lee Kernaghan’s music video clip “Flying With The King” which is a very special tribute to Slim Dusty and fundraiser for the Slim Dusty Centre in Kempsey. Produced by local company Filmery, Fletch was truly honoured to play a young Lee Kernaghan in the clip.
Outside of performing, Fletch loves playing all sports with his family & friends, especially surfing, football, cricket & basketball. The Pilon family are due to travel around Australia from July. Fletch is really looking forward to performing and busking his way around the country and being inspired to write more original songs before returning to the Central Coast.
Fletch is the nephew of Brett Pilon, the very popular lead singer from The Button Mushrooms, Upfront & Amatol who performed throughout the Coast years ago before heading North with his family.
