MARDI GRAS 2005 The Entrance
So many people couldn't believe their eyes and ears when nine time Golden Guitar winner, James Blundell, took to the Memorial Park stage for a free concert as part of the Tuggerah Lakes Mardi Gras of 2005.
James and a band comprising some of this country's most talented musicians, played to a very appreciative crowd on a perfect Central Coast day.
Starting the show with 'Fight Naked', a track from his latest CD "Deluge", James and the band played a mix of new and old songs, with the stand-out moments being the 'Postcards From Saigon", again from the new album and 'Way Out West'.
Although James' own words would have us believe he was a love cynic, his lyrics are as passionate as the presentation of his works.
It was a fantastic show with some golden moments from the supporting musicians, Mark O'Connor on the keyboards, Chris Bailey on the bass guitar and the cream of the crop drummer for hire, Mr Mick Skelton.
James did some autographs after the show and his affable nature was endearing to the many who were willing to wait and meet this most talented man.
The sound, lighting and stage presentation was an awesome bonus and a feather in the cap of local company Entertainment Installations.
It will possibly be a while, if at a, the Coast gets another chance to have such a popular Aussie artist on a free stage, but we can always live in hope. Thanks to Cathy and the team at The Entrance Town Centre Management for such a uniquely perfect day.
