SAXSINGA:
Terry Heywood has been making music for as long as he can remember.
Terry grew up in New Zealand, and the early days found him strumming on guitars in the playground and getting his first formal music lessons.
With these skills Terry formed a band and his dream of performing was initiated playing at local dances.
Moving to Sydney in the late 1960's he got his first professional job in Cooma, in the heart of the snowy mountains. Cooma was a boomtown in that era, boasting six hotels and two international nightclubs with entertainment seven nights a week.
Whilst in Sydney, Terry worked on Miller's hotel circuit and rooms, like Whiskey a go-go.
Bands would play music for dancing, do their own floorshow and back a guest artist in these venues.
The early 1970's saw him perform in the club scene playing a variety of musical styles as well as backing performers.
In 1984, he joined the fifty's rock n roll show.
They would go on to win five Mo awards in the coming years.
After the group disbanded Terry and a fellow musician formed Choo Ch'boogie playing soul and swing music.
Eventually Terry started playing in duos realising that with music technology one could play a wide variety of musical genres.
Now, as a solo performer "saxsinga" is doing just that.
With a song list ranging from a 1930's ballad to a contemporary pop or rock song, Saxsinga has a repertoire of songs both vocal and instrumental to please almost all musical tastes.
If you have that special song not in the song list, perhaps he can do it for you.
