The group was formed in 2005 by School and Community Music and is led by Sean Cadogan Steele who has extensive teaching and performance experience.
Sean completed a Bachelor of Music major (percussion) from Newcastle Conservatorium of Music and a Graduate Diploma of Education.

Sean is joined by Daniel Jones. Daniel compelted his HSC in 2009 receiving a Band 6 in music. He is an accomplished performer in percussion and saxophone. Since leaving school he has completed his Certificates 1 and 2 in the Orff Schuelwerk teaching methodology and has completed numerous courses in African Drumming and Dance with Master Tuza in Candidasa. He leaves in January for 6 weeks to study in Ghana and then in April will attend master workshops in Fukui, Japan.

Sean and Daniel are joined by Brendan Williams, Alec Wales, and Samuel Wolski.

The group has attended workshops with Taikoz and Synergy Percussion. They are highly accomplished performers and have performed for corporate events, Youth in Performing Arts, Starstruck, Mayoral receptions, regional workshops, many festivals and were National Champions in the Percussion Quartet section of the 2008 National Band Championships.
As well as a highly accomplished performance group they also offer workshops for schools and businesses and ongoing classes.

Taiko means " great drum" or “wide drum” in Japanese. Outside Japan, the word is often used to refer to any of the various Japanese drums and to the relatively recent art-form of ensemble taiko drumming (kumi-daiko).

The performances can last between 5 and 25 minutes and typically follow a jo-ha-kyū (beginning, middle, end/rapid, sudden, urgent, and emergency) structure, which means the performance will speed up significantly towards the grand finale.
